We had exactly 100 people on the call and attached is the attendee list. We appreciate how generous the Administrator was with his time and the frankness of his remarks. On a different note - we have a group of state think tank leaders who focus on environmental issues coming into town for meetings with the Administration and the Hill. We would like to set up meetings with key EPA policy officials on Wednesday June 21a (ideally the morning but we can be flexible). The goals of our fly-in are as follows: 1. Gain a better understanding of the administration's plans for devolving power back to the states 2. Share intel and issues from the states 3. Develop and deepen relationships between the state think tank movement and Washington DC leaders 4. Develop a pro-active state agenda to prepare states for federal changes (we have a day-long strategy session after meetings to work on these policies then roll-them-out at our national meeting in August) Who can help me set up the appropriate meetings at EPA? Although mostly we want to listen, some of the issues our delegates want to discuss are as follows: methane, endangerment finding, on-going agency restructuring plans, regional appointments, Paris Treaty and Renewable Fuel Standard. We are keeping attendance small so we have a more in-depth exchange. Attendees include: Mike Thompson - Virginia Amy Oliver Cooke - Colorado 17cv1906 Sierra Club v. EPA ED_O01523B_00005394-00001 Jason Hayes - Michigan David Stevenson - Delaware Jameson Taylor - Mississippi (tentative attendance) Todd Myers - Washington Matt Anderson - Utah Brent Mead - Montana Dan Peterson - Florida Look forward to continuing to work with you. To expand the call to other key parties in the states, I can invite ALEC and RGA to participate. Our three organizations have been on a lot of policy related calls (healthcare and tax reform) together lately. Background on this call: We kicked off this call in December of 2015 with the goal of getting as many states as possible to submit requests to EPA for two-year state plan extensions, but after the SCOTUS stay the call transitioned into getting as many states to stop working on a plan. During session our weekly war room calls quickly became the go-to source for state action and info sharing. We not only have state and national think tank policy experts engaged, but also private industry and attorneys 17cv1906 Sierra Club v. EPA ED_001523B_00005394-00014 associated with state AG offices. We also deal with RPS mandates, carbon tax and messaging proactive free market solutions. The call is now on a monthly basis and would benefit greatly from receiving a first-hand update on changes we will see at the EPA, plus what support the agency needs during this transition. Look forward to discussing this request. Thank you for your consideration.
