Re: REVISIONS TO OSHA LABELING INSTRUCTIONS
It has been decided that the following instructions be followed
covering the specific products listed: Geon Latex 660X1, 660X2 and
660X4 should not contain the previously specified OSHA label.
These latices do not contain vinyl chloride and are, therefore, not
applicable to the regulation. Hycar Acrylic Latex 2600X189 should be labeled according to
previous instructions covering Geon latices. This is the only Hycar
Latex that will require the OSHA label. In an effort to clear up some recent confusion concerning some
Geon product groups, the following Geon Polyblend Compounds should
not be labeled: 8720-021, 8720-022, 8720-239, 8720-250, 8720-288,
8720-289. The following materials now classified as Flexible Geon
Compounds should be labeled: 8880-021, 8880-288 and 8878-288.
These two items were previously classified as Polyblend Compounds.
If there are any questions concerning the labeling of these
or related items, please contact us.

Re: APPLICATION OF PERMANENT OSHA LABELS TO RAIL CARS
An audit of several plants indicates that some rail car labeling has possibly not been up to the expected standards. The labeling of top hatches normally appears to be satisfactory. Labeling of the discharge outlets is frequently questionable. The suggested labels, BFG Form No. 16611, should only be applied to the slope sheet after the 3" X 5" area for label placement has been thoroughly cleaned. Pressure-sensitive labels will not adhere to a dirty area. It is acceptable for these labels to be applied to an area of the discharge chute above the bolted flange if the area below this flange is excessively dirty and cannot be easily cleaned. A suggested method for applying the labels was furnished by the supplier with each shipment to our plants. Please follow these instructions closely for secure adhesion of the label to the car surface. E. M. Begnaud Manager, Whse. & Pkg.
