These castables are tailored for use to save tine on the job. and to allow for easy forming of refractory linings in hard-to-get-to places for shapes that are difficult to manufacture The growing family of GPl Castables allows a wider choice of selection for the specific and varying needs of our customers. Castables 820 I. T and 840 all contain fused silica as the main ingredient. A high purity, hydraulic setting cement is used as the binder. Many of the physical properties of Masrock R are preserved in these convenient castables, including: volume stability, thermal shock resistance, low thermal conductivity, and light weight. 628 75 02262 Castable 8201 is fine grained and is easily east into narrow openings or for thin linings; casting is the recommended method of *placesat. Castable 840 is a coarser mix better suited to vibration easting or ram- s* ming in thick sections. Castable 840 has excellent volume stability; its price indicates its economy in large installations. Castable 820 is carefully formulated to meet stringent volume stability requirements; ceramic tooling is a prime application for Orade T. Castable 820 is excellent even under severe cyclic temperature conditions up to 2100F. Castable 320 is a very high alumina, high strength castable ideally suited for lining high temperature units and high abrasive working areas. The 95% AI2O3 content assures its chemical inertness, even to strongly reducing atmospheres. Where high chemical purity and high temperatures are involved, Castable 320 is a candidate for the job. Even though they are specialized, theGlasroek Castables are easily in stalled. The forms, molds, etc. shold be treated to prevent sticking; oiling the surfaces is recommended. The amount of tempering water used is dependent upon the manner of in stallation; for ramming, the lowest amount is added, for vibration cast ing, a greater amount is needed, and, for pourable casting, the largest proportion is used. Dry mixing of the castable is recommended before any water is added. The water then should be added in such a way as to spread it out throught the mixing batch. The water should be added quickly and mixed to a homo geneous consistency. The fast setting hydraulic binder used requires that thorough mixing and emplacement all take place within 20 to 30 min utes after first introduction of water. The warmer the water and air temperature, the shorter the time available before stiffening starts. Applications Some of the uses for Glasrock Castables include: Aircraft Tooling Hearths and Furnace Walls Brazing Tools Kiln and Furnace Doors Precision Special shapes Burner Blocks and Ports Heat Treat Plates Stack Liners ' Blowpipe Diners Discharge Rings Oxygen Lance Tips Coke Oven Doors, Flues Hot Metal Troughs Car Tops Chemical Reactor Liners Incinerators Surface configuration, chemistry and temperature conditions will dictate the choice of castable.
