We periodically updated these lists and provided them to the Commission's Hotline and field offices. In addition, the larger of the two lists has been used for Commission mailings in the past and will be the final list in an up- coming mailing;. We wish to point out that the larger list now contains information on Panasonic Company's corrective action proposal. This proposal has not been announced to the public by the company and will only be announced if the Commission accepts Panasonic's Corrective Action Plan. Therefore, the Panasonic proposal should be treated as confidential by Commission employees unless the Commission accepts it. The larger list mainly contains information on asbestoscontaining hair dryers used by consumers in their homes and describes company actions and policy to repair, replace or refund the purchase price for these dryers. The list also includes information on dryers which are marketed for use by consumers in hair salons where the manufacturers of these dryers have implemented corrective action proposals. The second or smaller list identifies only manufacturers of dryers intended for consumer use in hair salons. This list has not yet been made part of any Commission mailings. In conjunction with this list, attached is a memorandum from HICP, dated October 18, 1979, concerning market information on commercial hair dryers.
