The major application for this type adhesive is to secure insulation blocks to steel surfaces prior to the installation of refractory linings in furnace construction. The recommended material is Foster Fibrous Adhesive, asbestos-free. This product has been used at the Davenport Works, and Pat Ward Davenport's Ingot Plant Furnace Engineer believes that it is the best adhesive he has used todate. The attached flyer describes the two types of Foster Adhesive products available, and the recommended type for the above application is the trowel consistency 81-93, priced at approximately $8 per gallon FOB Houston, TX. The new corporate stock numbers assigned to the above adhesives are as follows: 1. 094-124-3000: Foster Fibrous Adhesive, asbestos-free No. 81-27, 12.2 lb/gal. 2. 094-124-3100: Foster Fibrous Adhesive, asbestos-free No. 81-93, 13.5 lb/gal. Some plant locations have been looking for a better fibrous adhesive then the asbestos-free product presently in use. FOSTER FIBROUS ADHESIVE complies with Rule 442, Subsection (h) of the Southern California Air Pollution Control District. It does not contain photochemicaily reactive solvent as defined by Rule 102 of the Southern California Air Pollution Control District. LIMITATIONS Since the dry adhesive film is soluble in water, it should not be used where moisture will be encountered.
