TELEFHONE HUDSON 1612c Manufacturing Chemists' Association, Inc. (FOUNDED JITIi 1825 Connecticut Avenue. N. W Washington, D. C 20009 JAN 31 1967 January 30, 1967 TO: PVC Resin Producers In the meeting on January 24, 1967, at Ann Arbor, Michigan, the plans for handling the epidemiologic study on the occupational health hazard were discussed at length. An outline of the immediate program to be undertaken by the University of Michigan's Institute of Industrial Health will be sent you 'shortly. For the information of both you and the Institute, the following listings are enclosed: (1) those present in the January 24 meeting; (2) company contacts with whom the Institute of Industrial Health will work; and (3) those producers who have indicated intention to participate in the program. As indicated in the January 24 meeting, we are still awaiting information from certain members regarding approximate number of employees to be studied in vinyl chloride polymer production and in product fabrication, the number of plant loca tions, and the annual capacity classification that will assist the MCA in arriving at a proper assessment. As a result of the discussion of the study, if any company desires to revise its figures on number of employees that should be covered in the study, we would like to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Dr. Magnuson of the Institute indicated they would be getting the study under way and the designated company contacts will hear from him direct. The contract for this work has been sent to the Institute for final clearance, and the first phase of the program can be started shortly. It is hoped the afore mentioned report to be supplied will include a statement from the University regarding the handling of confidential information on the processes and chemistry. Sincerely, FHC/bk Enclosures (3) F. H. Carman Technical Director RSV 0009243 Manufacturing Chenuats' Association, Inc.
